What Is a Pokemon Fusion Calculator?
Pokemon fusion is a fan concept where two Pokemon are combined to create an entirely new creature. The fusion inherits traits from both parents: types, stats, abilities, and even a combined name that blends the two originals together.
While fusion is not an official game mechanic in the mainline series, it has a massive fan following thanks to projects like Pokemon Infinite Fusion. Our calculator lets you explore every possible combination and see exactly how the stats, types, and matchups shake out.
How to Use the Fusion Calculator
Choose a Head Pokemon
Search by name or number, or hit the randomize button to pick a Head Pokemon. The head contributes its special stats to the fusion.
Choose a Body Pokemon
Search or randomize a Body Pokemon. The body contributes its physical stats like Attack and Defense to the final result.
Fuse Them Together
Click Fuse Pokemon to combine your two selections into a brand-new creature with merged stats, types, and abilities.
Review the Results
Examine the fused stat spread, combined typing, and full type matchup analysis to see how your creation stacks up.
How Fusion Stats Are Calculated
The head Pokemon contributes 67% of its Special Attack and Special Defense, while the body Pokemon contributes 67% of its Attack and Defense. HP and Speed are averaged equally between the two parents.
This means the head shapes the special side of your fusion and the body shapes the physical side, which mirrors how the fusion is visualized. Choosing a high Special Attack head and a high Defense body, for example, creates a well-rounded mixed attacker.
Creative Ways to Use Fusion
Try pairing high-special attackers as heads with tanky, defensive bodies to create balanced powerhouses. You can also experiment with type combinations that cover each other's weaknesses, turning a normally fragile Pokemon into something surprisingly resilient.
Some fusions reveal unexpected immunities through their dual typing, which can completely shut down certain attacking types. And honestly, half the fun is just seeing what ridiculous names the generator comes up with when you mash two Pokemon together.
Understanding Fusion Type Matchups
The fused Pokemon's type combination determines its full set of weaknesses, resistances, and immunities. Some combinations provide incredible defensive coverage, while others create devastating 4x weaknesses where both types share a vulnerability to the same attacking type.
The calculator shows exactly what your fusion is weak to, what it resists, and what it is completely immune to. Use this information to find combinations that minimize weaknesses or stack resistances for maximum survivability.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Pokemon fusion an official game mechanic?
Not in the mainline games. Fusion as shown here is inspired by the fan-made Pokemon Infinite Fusion game and the broader fusion community. It's a creative exercise rather than an official feature.
How are fusion names created?
The name combines the first half of the head Pokemon's name with the second half of the body Pokemon's name. This can lead to some surprisingly fitting names and some hilariously awkward ones.
Does swapping head and body change the result?
Yes. Swapping changes the stat distribution because the head contributes special stats and the body contributes physical stats. The typing and name will also change since each position pulls from different halves of the name.
Can I fuse any two Pokemon?
Yes, you can fuse any of the 1,025 Pokemon in the Pokedex with any other, including fusing a Pokemon with itself if you're curious what that looks like.
Why do some fusions have 4x weaknesses?
When both types share a weakness to the same attacking type, the damage multipliers stack to 4x instead of the usual 2x. For example, a Fire/Ice fusion would take 4x damage from Rock-type moves because both Fire and Ice are weak to Rock.
